Taj Palace Indian Restaurant, on Elizabeth Street, is one of North Hobart's finest Indian restaurants. Serving lunch and dinner, Taj Palace offers a dizzying selection of freshly baked naan, tandoori dishes, and banquet-style curries. While much of the menu is devoted to north Indian classics and boasts an impressive selection of sizzling kebabs and chicken and lamb biryanis, Taj Palace offers a south Indian menu with a delectable selection of vegetarian dishes. The superb palaak paneer and lamb vindaloo are two dishes that will keep you coming back for more.

- Part of our takeaway meal was forgotten. Required another 40 minutes of driving to pick up the rest of the meal. Nothing additional offered to make up for this error. Food was nice but cold by the time it was eaten.

- Text arrived to say that the order would be ready in 50 minutes i.e. 7pm. Arrived at 7 and was still waiting for order at 7:35. Side dishes were cold and mixed platter of side dishes was poor value. Disappointed as we were feeding guests.

After receiving sms "DELIVERY" was 30mins.
We realised it had been a while since we ordered so we rang the restaurant.
The restaurant presumed that it was a "pickup! ". It had been sitting there waiti g for us for over an hour. The manager wanted us to pay an extra $7.50 to have it delivered, as they were very busy!
I refused.I asked them to deliver my food as I had already paid $5 for delivery through eatnow.
Food turned up cold. We were travellers, in a hotel room with no microwave.
We couldn't eat it.
Poor communication skills, poor management.

- If this had been the first time I'd visited the Taj, I wouldn't be going back. So disappointed, had to wait an extra 10 mins for the food, which would have been fine but the naan was raw. The curries had almost no flavour, which is surprising as the food is usually great. I don't think I'll be ordering online again.

- The food from Taj Palace has been excellent whenever we've eaten here, but is VERY slow. We ordered online through 'eat now' so that we could have a better estimate of the preparation time. Our order confirmation said the food would be ready in 30 minutes, but we waited more than 50 minutes after that before it was ready to collect.
Also, it would have been helpful for the online menu to let us know whether the mains included rice (could not locate this info on the mobile platform), as 'rice' was listed as a separate item (so we thought we had to order it separately). Calling that item 'extra rice' would solve the problem!
Despite the administrative complaints, though, the food is really great and the prices good. - Pip

- The food was delicious as usual, and excellent value for money, but this time the speed was woeful. I will point out that the last several times we have picked up our food we've only had to wait 5 minutes at most, but last night I ordered the food (two hours prior) for collection at 7.00 and I didn't get it until nearly 7.30. The two girls behind the counter didn't seem completely sure of what was going on. It also seems the kitchen staff didn't start cooking my food until I arrived! Now maybe they were having an extra busy night and were running behind, but there was no explanation given. At 7.05 they told me it would be 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I asked if there'd be much more of a wait and she said "2 minutes, it's still cooking". There was no explanation and no apology when it was finally handed over. I love the food so I will come back. I just hope this service doesn't become a habit.
