Taj Palace Indian Restaurant, on Elizabeth Street, is one of North Hobart's finest Indian restaurants. Serving lunch and dinner, Taj Palace offers a dizzying selection of freshly baked naan, tandoori dishes, and banquet-style curries. While much of the menu is devoted to north Indian classics and boasts an impressive selection of sizzling kebabs and chicken and lamb biryanis, Taj Palace offers a south Indian menu with a delectable selection of vegetarian dishes. The superb palaak paneer and lamb vindaloo are two dishes that will keep you coming back for more.

- I have never had such bad serves before when getting food . We rang up at 645pm and never got food till 1034pm . rang up 3 time they keep on saying will be there in 10min . when it finely got here not even all the our food was there . rang them up again they said sorry but will get it sent now again . The food we did get was all right but very sloppy and cold and had to be heated up. NOT HAPPY NOT HAPPY .

- Great food but extremely slow delivery. We waited over an hour and a half for the first order and it is the same again today. This is frustrating but even more so when you get a text stating it will be delivered within 40 minutes.

- I ordered online. Our meal was ready when I arrived, well sealed and with plenty of heat. I over ordered a bit but the meal was fabulous and met our every expectation. Mild was mild, medium was medium and hot was hot. We will be eating the leftovers tonight - can't wait!

- A very friendly staff member (maybe owner, I have seen him in the resturant before) delivered my large order. They were generous serves, tasty and they easily found where I lived because they followed given instructions very well! Both times I was very happy. I am not sure if Taj Palace does delivery anymore though...it is a shame!

- The quality of the food was amazing- the Lamb Rogan Josh was melt in your mouth and full of flavour. The Garlic Naan Breads were lovely and cooked perfectly. The Mango Kulfi was fresh and tasted delicious!

- I love Taj. But the medium butter chicken was HOT! i. e. Not far of a vindaloo. Not what I was expecting as Eatnow defaults to medium. I'll def be more careful next time and tick mild :)

- It was a rainy night and we didn't feel like going out. We ordered at 6.50 pm, expecting to eat by about 7.45 at the latest. We received an sms saying the meal would take 50 minutes, which was fine. The price was reasonable, too. However, when there was no sign of our food after an hour and fifteen minutes I rang the restaurant (the only number supplied by Eat Now) and was told they had no order in my name. At the same time, our meal arrived, delivered by none other than the restaurant owner, in his filthy personal people-mover, with a baby in the back. When we brought the food in, the promised pappadams were nowhere to be found. Everything was ice cold. The pakoras were like polystyrene in both texture and flavour. The samosas were limp, slimy and rubbery. Our efforts to sequentially heat up the rice, bread and mains were largely unsuccessful because everything was so cold. The rice, as seems to be the habit of Hobart Indian restaurants, was recycled and lumpy. The bread was dull, limp, dead and could not be revived. The two curries had a pleasant enough flavour, but the meal was a disaster. The dog had a good night. You could try picking up your own food as we have in the past, but their practice is usually not to start preparing the food until you arrive to collect it. So you can't win.
